Domestic Climate Policy Competition - Climate Innovators Challenge
The Climate Policy Challenge is a dynamic competition inviting innovative minds to tackle the pressing issue of climate change. Join us in shaping a resilient future for our planet!Prompt: Tell us about a climate challenge you are facing in your country/state and create a public policy to fix it.RubricStructure (15p) All entries will follow an essay format with an intro (including thesis and background info), 3 body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The essay does not go off topic or exceed 1500 words as well as does a good job highlighting claims, warrants, and impacts in the speech. Speech uses font Times New Roman (size 12), double spaced, and is done in MLA format. Creativity (20p)The speech contains a unique way to mitigate environmental challenges by utilizing innovation, plans for involvement, and time estimates to parts of the policy while still being realistic and applicable to the state/country government.Analysis (20p)The speech analyzes the warrants adequately, explaining why it matters and the way it works for audiences. It also explains current issues in the status quo of their country.state and how their policy can mitigate that.Impact (30p)The speech explains the extent of the policy using quantitative estimates, targeted groups, and other social, environmental, or economic benefits that arise from this policy. Vocab + Basic Grammar Conventions (15p)The speech is grammatically correct and uses certain vocabulary words to enhance and emphasize the contents of their speech. It is professional and makes sense within the context of the section.Entries should not exceed 1,500 words (excluding title, author information, and works cited page)Prizes: Since this is one of the first competitions of AYA, there will not be entry fees and the prize will be the prestige of putting it on college applications.Award Name: Green Vision AwardJudges: Preliminary rounds will be judged by AYA policy teams. Final round will be paneled and judged by working professionals or college students hoping to pursue a job in the industry (Policy Analysts, Environmental Lawyers, Political Science Students, etc).
